In January of 2008, the EPA’s ENERGY STAR program announced that ice machines that meet maximum potable water and energy consumption limits would become eligible for ENERGY STAR recognition in its commercial kitchen equipment category. Manitowoc ice machines that have earned the ENERGY STAR are up to 15 % more energy and water efficient than standard models.
